- What is a .hlx file?
- A .hlx file is a single Line 6 Helix or HX preset, exported from the device or from HX Edit. Helrig opens .hlx files directly in the browser and shows the whole signal chain inside.
- Which Line 6 devices does Helrig support?
- Helrig supports every device in the family: Helix Floor, LT and Rack, HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL, HX Effects, and presets made in Helix Native. Helrig also converts between them and reports every change it had to make.
- Can I edit a Helix preset without HX Edit?
- Helrig edits Helix and HX presets without HX Edit installed. Helrig runs in any modern browser — desktop, iPad or phone — so you can open and change a preset on a machine that has no Line 6 software.
- Can I edit factory Helix presets?
- Helrig edits factory presets exactly like user presets. Export the preset from your device as a .hlx file, open it in Helrig, edit it, then export and load it into a user slot — the factory original stays untouched.
- What is the difference between a preset and a snapshot?
- A Helix preset is the whole signal chain; a snapshot is one saved state of that chain's on/off switches and parameter values. Helix holds 8 snapshots per preset, HX Stomp 3. Helrig shows every snapshot.
- How do I import presets from a Helix backup?
- Helrig opens a .hxb device backup or a .hls setlist and lists every preset inside, so you can pick one straight into the editor. Signed in, you can import a whole backup into your library at once.
- Are my presets uploaded anywhere?
- Helrig parses and edits presets entirely in your browser; no preset is uploaded to be opened, converted or rendered. Nothing leaves your device unless you sign in and choose to save a preset to your own library.
- Does Helrig cost anything?
- Helrig's editor is free, with no feature limits and no trial. The optional Pro subscription only adds a larger private cloud library that syncs across your devices; opening, editing and exporting presets stays free.
- Do I need an account to use Helrig?
- Helrig needs no account. You can open, edit and export presets while signed out. Signing in is optional and exists only to keep a private cloud library of presets available across your devices.
- Can Helrig put a preset back on my hardware?
- Helrig exports a standard .hlx file that you load onto the device the usual way. No browser can reach the hardware. USB is an app feature, and Helrig's desktop and mobile apps are still in progress.
