Terms

• The editor is free, needs no account, and stays that way. Paying changes how much you can keep in the cloud, never what you can open, edit, convert or export.
• Your presets are yours. Saving one here gives me no ownership of it and no right to show it to anyone.
• If a subscription ends, nothing is deleted. You may end up over the free limit, which stops new saves — everything already there stays readable and downloadable.
• Publishing to the Community Library is the one thing that makes a preset public, and it is always a deliberate act, one preset at a time.

Opening, editing, converting and exporting presets needs no account and no payment. That is the whole editor, it runs in your browser, and I intend to keep it that way.

You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live to have an account or a subscription. There is nothing to agree to if you only use the editor.

You keep every right you have in the presets you make and the files you upload. Storing one in your library gives me permission to hold it, serve it back to you and show it to you — and nothing else. I do not claim ownership, I do not license it to anyone, and I do not use what you save to build anything shown to other people.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Don’t put someone else’s paid preset pack into the Community Library.

A share link is a private act: it makes one preset readable by whoever holds the link, it is frozen to the save it was made from, its page is kept out of search engines, and you can revoke it whenever you like.

Publishing to the Community Library is a public one, and by publishing you give everyone permission to view, open and download that preset, and give me permission to display and distribute it for as long as it is published. Three consequences are worth stating plainly:

• It is meant to be found — a published preset gets a page search engines are invited to index, and appears in a directory anyone can browse without an account.
• It shows your current save — unlike a share link, a published preset follows the preset as you edit it.
• A download is a copy — unpublishing removes the page and the listing, and so does deleting your account — but neither reaches a copy somebody has already downloaded.

I can take a published preset down without warning if it isn’t yours to publish, or if it is used to attack the service. That removes it from the Community Library; it does not touch your own copy.

The free plan includes the cloud librarian at up to 10 presets and 25 MB. Pro lifts that to an unlimited number of presets and 250 MB. Subscriptions are billed through Clerk, which processes payments with Stripe; card details never reach Helrig’s servers.

You can cancel at any time and keep Pro until the period you have paid for runs out. If a payment fails, you stay on Pro while it is retried — a payment problem is not a downgrade.

When a subscription ends, nothing is deleted. Your plan returns to free, and if you are holding more than the free plan allows, new saves stop until you are back under the limit. Everything already in your library stays there, readable and downloadable, for as long as the account exists. I think deleting people’s work to collect a renewal is indefensible, so the code has never had a path that does it.

If Pro isn’t what you expected, email me within 14 days of a charge and I will refund it. This sits alongside any statutory right you have where you live, and takes nothing away from it.

A founding-member discount applies to the subscription you started it on and lasts as long as that subscription stays active, including through renewals. Cancelling ends it; starting again later is at whatever terms are current then. If list prices change, the discount continues to apply against the price you would otherwise pay.

Deleting a preset puts it in the trash, where you can restore it for 30 days. After that a scheduled job removes the rows and the stored file permanently, and I cannot get it back for you.

Deleting your account removes your presets, their versions and their stored files straight away — no 30-day window — and takes any presets you had published down with them.

Helrig is a one-person project. I run it carefully and I use it myself, but it is provided as it is: I can’t promise it will be available without interruption, free of bugs, or that it will read every file correctly.

Keep your own backups. The cloud librarian is somewhere to put presets, not the only place they should exist. And before writing presets to a device, back the device up first — loading a preset overwrites whatever is in the target slot, and that is not something Helrig can undo.

To the extent the law where you live allows it, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost presets, lost recordings or a missed gig. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Don’t attack the service, work around its limits, scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people, or use it to distribute malware or material you have no right to distribute. I can suspend or close an account that does — and if it is a mistake or a misunderstanding, email me and we will sort it out.

Helrig changes often; features arrive, and occasionally one is withdrawn. If a change materially affects people with accounts, they will be told directly rather than left to notice.

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the history of this page lives in the repository.

Helrig is run from Germany, and German law governs these terms.

That does not narrow what you are owed. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in apply whatever this page says, and where they give you something these terms do not, they win.
